Green Tech Deduction 2026
Everything you need to know about the tax reduction for EV charger installations and how to cut your costs in half.
What is the Green Tech Deduction?
The tax reduction for green technology works similarly to the ROT and RUT deductions. If you are installing an EV charger or a battery for storing self-produced electricity, you can receive a tax reduction for the cost of labor and materials. For 2026, the deduction is 50% for the installation of a charging point.
How it works in practice
- The deduction is applied directly on the invoice by us at Smista Elinstallation.
- You don't need to apply for the deduction afterwards with Skatteverket.
- Applies to both the charger (materials) and the labor cost.
Important rules to keep in mind
To be eligible for the deduction, there are a few important rules to follow:
- Turnkey requirement: You must purchase both the EV charger and the installation from the same company.
- Installation must take place at your home, your parent's home, or adjacent to them (e.g., garage).
- You must have paid enough tax during the year to utilize the deduction.
