What is the ROT deduction for electrical work?
The ROT deduction (Repair, Rebuilding, Extension) is a tax reduction that gives you as a private individual the right to deduct 30% of the labor cost when you hire a registered electrical installation company to perform work in your home. You can deduct up to 50,000 SEK per person and year.
Calculation Example: Replacing Electrical Panel
Here is a typical example of what the invoice looks like when you use the ROT deduction for a medium-sized job.
When can you use the ROT deduction?
Eligible for ROT
- • Installing three-phase
- • Replacing electrical panel
- • Rewiring during renovation
- • Installing RCD
- • Routing electricity to guest house
- • Installing network cables
NOT eligible for ROT
- • Electrical installation in completely newly built house (< 5 years)
- • Repair of white goods (washing machine, fridge)
- • Cost of material or equipment
- • Only troubleshooting (without action)
EV Charger and the Green Technology deduction
Are you planning to install an EV charger or battery storage? Then you do not use the ROT deduction. Instead, the Green Technology deduction is used, which gives you a full 50% deduction on both material and labor costs directly on the invoice. We handle this for you as well.
