EV Charger with Load Balancing
Avoid tripping the main fuse when cooking and charging the car at the same time. We install smart and dynamic load balancing.
What happens if you charge without load balancing?
An EV requires a lot of power for a long time. If you come home from work, plug in the car at high power, and then turn on the oven, induction hob, and washing machine, there is a very high risk that the house's main fuse will overload and blow. This means the whole house (or a third of it) will lose power until you physically go out and replace the fuse.
How Dynamic Load Balancing works
The load balancer is a small device that our electrician installs directly in your electrical panel. It communicates (wirelessly or via cable) with your EV charger and monitors the house's total electricity consumption in real time.
- 1. You cook: The load balancer notices the house is drawing a lot of power and automatically lowers the car's charging.
- 2. You go to bed: When the house's consumption drops at night, maximum power is sent to the EV so it is fully charged by morning.
