RCD – Troubleshooting & Installation
Is your RCD tripping or is your home missing this vital protection? We help you with professional troubleshooting and new installations.
Is the RCD tripping?
A common and frustrating problem is when the RCD trips unexpectedly. It is designed to cut the power quickly if it senses that electricity is taking a faulty path (e.g., through a person or to ground), protecting you from electrical accidents.
Do this before you call:
- Unplug all suspicious appliances (coffee makers, outdoor lighting, engine block heaters).
- Turn off all circuit breakers/unscrew the fuses.
- Turn on the RCD.
- Turn on one breaker at a time until the RCD trips again. Now you know which group the fault is on!
Still having problems? Then it's time to hire a certified electrician for advanced RCD troubleshooting.
Time to install an RCD?
If you live in an older house without an RCD, it is absolutely the best and cheapest life insurance you can invest in. Many old electrical panels can easily be retrofitted with an RCD.
- Protects children and pets from fatal electric shocks.
- Cuts the power in milliseconds at the slightest fault.
- Simple and quick installation for a certified electrician.
- Can be utilized with the ROT deduction (30% off labor).
